Repeat failure to reach temperature

OpenNormal fill/drain, but tank or rinse water is not heating normally

1. Symptoms and evidence

  • Machine fills and empties correctly.
  • No fault code reported.
  • Temperature does not rise as it normally does.
  • Fault reported again on 22 July 2026, confirming a repeat/intermittent issue.
  • Photo identifies C405WS; display shows door while door is open.

2. Suspects

  • Door interlock not proving closed.
  • Insufficient warm-up time or energy-saving mode.
  • Tank or boiler element / high-limit thermostat.
  • Temperature probe, relay/contactor, wiring or PCB output.
  • Heavy scale on element/probe, especially if softener/salt maintenance is overdue.
  • Loss of one phase/supply leg on a multi-phase installation.

Manual / controls / errors

The C405WS user and installation manual includes operation and self-diagnostics. “door” in this photo is consistent with the open-door state, not by itself proof of a heating error.

Troubleshooting tests
  1. Close/latch door and confirm “door” clears.
  2. Start from cold and allow a full uninterrupted warm-up.
  3. Use the temperature display/readout and record tank and final-rinse readings.
  4. Confirm energy-saving mode and thermostop settings have not changed.
  5. Clean filters/arms and check softener salt/scale condition.
  6. If still cold, isolate and book an engineer for electrical heating tests.
Parts / sources

Likely test-dependent parts: tank element and gasket, boiler/rinse element, high-limit thermostat, temperature probe, contactor/relay, door microswitch or PCB. Confirm serial and exact electrical configuration before ordering. OEM spares are available through Maidaid/Caterparts and Parts Town UK.

4. Timeline / current status

  • 10 July 2026: first report—normal fill and drain, no error, but not reaching temperature.
  • 22 July 2026: same heating symptom reported again; issue remains open.

No part should be ordered until actual readings show whether the wash tank, rinse boiler, or both fail to heat. A repeat fault raises the likelihood of an intermittent interlock, high-limit cut-out, element, probe, contactor/relay, supply-phase or scale problem.

Safe checks first

Troubleshooting sequence

  1. Cold-start test: note starting temperature/time, close the door firmly, switch on and leave it uninterrupted for the normal warm-up period.
  2. Door check: “door” should clear when latched. If it remains, clean the door area and check nothing obstructs closure; a failed interlock can inhibit operation/heating.
  3. Identify which circuit is cold: record displayed tank/wash temperature before a cycle and final-rinse temperature during/after a cycle. Do not judge only by touching the cabinet or glasses.
  4. Settings: check the operating guide for energy-saving and thermostop configuration. Do not alter service parameters without recording originals.
  5. Water/scale checks: check water supply, internal softener salt, filters and visible scale. Scale can insulate elements and distort probe readings.
  6. Power reset: isolate at the proper local isolator for five minutes, restore once, then repeat the cold-start test. Do not repeatedly reset.
  7. Engineer tests: verify supply phases/voltage, element resistance/insulation, high-limit cut-outs, probes, contactor/relay output, wiring and PCB demand.

Stop using it for service if wash/rinse temperatures cannot be verified as adequate; apparently clean glasses may not be hygienically washed.

Useful evidence to collect

Before calling the engineer

  • Photo of rating plate: serial, voltage, phase and kW.
  • Temperature shown 5, 10, 20 and 30 minutes after cold start.
  • Whether “door” clears when shut.
  • Whether water is cold, lukewarm, or hot in the tank.
  • Whether final rinse becomes hot during a cycle.
  • Any tripped breaker, burning smell, unusual clicking or scale.

Repeat heating fault report

Bunk Loughborough — Maidaid Halcyon C405WS pumped-waste glasswasher. First logged 10 July 2026 and reported not reaching temperature again on 22 July 2026. Machine previously filled and drained normally with no error reported. Please record displayed wash-tank and final-rinse temperatures after 10, 20 and 30 minutes from cold; confirm whether “door” clears when latched; then test door interlock, supply phases/voltage, tank and boiler elements, high-limit thermostats, temperature probes, contactors/relays, wiring/PCB output, and scale/softener condition. Please record model serial/electrical configuration and the confirmed failed part before ordering.
