Streamlined issue brief

Frost build-up · Blizzard LS60

Door gasket fault summary with replacement path.

OpenFrost returned overnight after defrost; gasket replacement recommended

1. Symptoms and evidence

  • Freezer over-freezing and accumulating frost.
  • Full defrost helped temporarily but frost returned overnight.
  • Photos show frost build-up and warped/uneven door seal area.
  • Rating label identifies Blizzard LS60, Freezer 3.

2. Suspects

  • Most likely: warped/failing magnetic door gasket letting warm humid air in.
  • Possible hinge sag/door alignment.
  • Dirty contact surface or obstruction preventing door closing.
  • If frost is on evaporator/coil, check fan/defrost/control after gasket.

Manual / how-to / error reference

Blizzard LS60 manual/spec PDFs are saved in the reference section.

Troubleshooting tests
  1. Clean gasket and cabinet frame.
  2. Reseat gasket into retaining groove.
  3. Warm/reshape gently if kinked.
  4. Run paper test around all sides.
  5. Check hinge sag and door stops.
Diagram / parts / sources

Exploded parts reference identifies V2-GASKET60 door gasket, item 2. Supplier link saved on page.

Frost build-up — warped / leaking door gasket

Full defrost cleared the ice, but frost returned overnight. Door seal/gasket appears warped and not contacting both sides properly.

Troubleshooting sequence

1Fully defrost, dry the gasket channel and door frame, then restart.
2Inspect the magnetic door gasket for warping, splits, hard rubber, pulled-out corners, or gaps.
3Run paper-strip test all around the door. Loose paper = weak seal at that point.
4Check hinges/door closing stops and remove any shelf/ice/product obstruction.
5If frost returns quickly and gasket has gaps, replace V2-GASKET60.

Why this points to the gasket

Defrost did not last

  • Frost returned overnight after full defrost.
  • Frost is concentrated around door/edge areas.
  • Photos show uneven gasket contact.
  • Warm humid air entering a freezer creates rapid ice/frost.

Next practical fix: replace the magnetic door gasket / door seal.

Quick confirmation checks

Before ordering or while waiting for the seal

  • Paper test: close the door on paper at top, sides, and bottom. It should drag firmly.
  • Torch test: put a torch inside, close door in a dark room, and look for light leaks.
  • Gasket channel: check the gasket has not pulled out of its retaining groove.
  • Hinges: check the door has not sagged and is meeting the frame squarely.
  • Obstructions: check shelves, food tubs, labels, and ice are not stopping closure.
  • Temperature: confirm controller target is sensible and doors are not being left open.

Temporary mitigation

Until gasket arrives

Keep the door closed as much as possible, avoid overloading near the gasket line, wipe the frame dry, and remove ice that physically prevents the door from closing. Do not chip ice with sharp tools.

Other typical resolves

Things to check before or alongside the gasket

  • Reseat the existing gasket: press it fully back into its groove all the way round, especially corners.
  • Warm and reshape the gasket: gentle warm air can relax a folded/kinked magnetic gasket so it contacts the frame better.
  • Clean contact faces: grease, food residue, ice, or torn labels on the frame can stop a proper seal.
  • Check hinge sag: if the door has dropped, a new gasket may still not seal until hinges/door alignment are corrected.
  • Check door stops: the LS60 parts list shows door opening/closing stops; if damaged/misaligned they can affect closure.
  • Check shelf/product obstruction: trays, shelf rails, boxes, or ice can hold the door slightly open.
  • Check fan/airflow: blocked evaporator airflow can cause local icing, especially if frost is away from the door area.
  • Check defrost pattern: if the evaporator coil becomes a solid block of ice, suspect fan/defrost/control issue rather than only gasket.

Most likely order

Ranking for this freezer

  1. Warped/leaking door gasket.
  2. Door alignment / hinge sag / closing stop issue.
  3. Obstruction or ice preventing full closure.
  4. Dirty frame/gasket contact face.
  5. Fan/defrost/control issue if frost pattern is mainly at evaporator, not door.

Replacement outline

How to replace the gasket safely

  1. Empty/secure freezer contents and switch off if working with the door open for a while.
  2. Warm the new gasket gently in a warm room or with warm water so it relaxes from packaging bends.
  3. Photograph the old gasket corners and how it sits in the channel before removal.
  4. Pull the old gasket from the retaining groove, or loosen retaining screws if this version uses a clamping strip.
  5. Clean and dry the groove and cabinet contact face.
  6. Fit the new gasket starting at the corners, then press evenly around the full perimeter.
  7. Close the door and check for even contact; gently warm any kinked area and massage it into shape.
  8. Run the paper test again around all edges and monitor overnight for new frost.

If new gasket does not solve it

Next checks

  • Door sagging or hinge wear.
  • Door closing/opening stop misaligned.
  • Door liner warped or cabinet frame damaged.
  • Evaporator/fan/defrost issue if frost is away from the door area.
